The director of Sankarshana Academy, Dr. Sumana Ranjalkar is a dancer, choreographer, honing young aspirants in the genres of Bharatanatyam and Kathak. Headed by a direct disciple of Karnataka Kalashree Guru Smt. Jyothi Pattabhiram, central Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee, Guru Narmada and honed in the genre of Abhinaya under frequent guidance from Padmabhushan Guru Smt. Kalanidhi Narayan, Chennai, Dr Sumana Ranjalkar is a previleged graduate of choreography of the internationally acclaimed Natya Institute of Kathak and Choreography. Honed in the genre of the Lucknow Gharana of Kathak under the caring tutelage of legendary maestro Guru Dr Maya Rao and Karnataka Kalashree Guru Smt. Chitra Venugopal, direct disciples of Guru Shambhu Maharaj ji, Sumana imparts and trains students in Kathak with utmost honesty and sincerity to the art form.

Many young aspirants, trained in the discipline of Bharatanatyam by Dr Ranjalkar have been recipients of the CCRT scholarship in the past. Also, many a young dancer has performed a successful solo presentation in and around the nation.
